The the first act takes place in medieval times - a battle ensues between a knights and a soldier guarding a church. We find out later that the church is inhabited by "nuns who have become Satan's daughters." The knight is victorious .. and leads an armed procession to the church grounds.
Later that night, a ritual sacrifice is underway at the church. A naked woman lies face down on an alter .. her throat is slit .. the worshipers collect the blood and drink it.
Abruptly, armed soldiers burst in and capture the women for trial back at the Lord's castle. Six of the priestesses are hung from the bridge over the moat .. the leader is burnt at the stake.
Before turning to ashes, she casts a spell on the Lord's family in revenge:
"Satan will see that you pay."
Several generations later the curse manifests itself. The results is werewolves, murders and havoc in village.
The next act takes place several decades later. Waldemar Daninsky, a man of obvious wealth, is hunting on his estate. A wolf is spotted, and brought down by his assistant, who happens to have a clip of silver bullets. Upon retrieving the carcass .. they discover it has morphed into the body of a man!
Later, Waldemar, now back at his castle, is understandably in disbelief.
Also, we learn of the news spreading about, of a murderer roaming about the village.
Later that week, Waldemar is riding his carriage down to the village. A beatiful girl is found unconscious in the middle of the road .. Waldemar, against his servants' wishes, takes her in.
He provides a room and bed for her. During the evening, they find themselves bonding .. and he makes love to her. Waldemar, visibly spent, falls into a deep sleep. The woman slips out of bed, finds her belongings .. one of which is a wolf's skull. She opens the jaws of the skull, and drives the fangs into Waldemar's chest! The curse has been cast.
She flees the castle, only to fall victim to the village murderer .. she is decapitated.
Waldemar rests a few days, as his wound heals. His wound, upon healing, forms the shape of a star on his chest.
Days laterm, Waldemar is walking in the woods; he meets Kinga a striking blonde, and Maria, her shapely sister. Waldemar and Kinga immediately hit if off; Maria is jealous of her sister.
The next day Maria and Waldemar meet .. at his cottage. Their conversion is interrupted as the Village Killer attacks from the window! Waldemar stabs him, he flees into the forest. Later in the film the village murderer is found dead, in barn - the knife wound was fatal.
Maria, unfazed, continues to reveal her affections to Waldemar .. who refuses, as he has ties to Kinga now. Maria strips and approaches Waldemar, who falls understandably for her beauty. As they make love, he transforms into a werewolf! Maria is murdered as the beast makes a meal of her neck.
Each night that follows, the village experiences the terror of the werewolf. Waldemar is unsure of the situation, as he wakes up in a daze after each episode.
After Kinga's father is murdered by werewolf, Kinga fashions a silver knife, and decides to break this curse herself.
Villagers hunt werewolf with torches .. they march into the forest. Killings continue - a few of the hunters are picked off, easy prey.
Kinga find the beast .. it stands there, perplexed by her beauty or memory of her. Kinga plunges the knife into its chest. The werewolf perishes .. and tranforms back into Waldemar.
Kinga .. pregnant with Waldemar's child, is at peace now that his spririt is free again.
In the epilogue it is years later. Kinga and her son are walking away from the cemetary .. the moon is full .. the camera zooms on the boy .. and the patches of hair that are forming on his hands.
