We'll get to the plot in a moment - the animatronics in this feature deserve first mention.
In Company of Wolves, two completely different transformations are featured, where a man transforms into a wolf.
The first transformation begins with the subject ripping off his own skin .. exposing the muscle underneath. This continues as the form of the man changes, the most dramatic alteration occurs when the snout extends from the mass of muscle that was the man's face. With the transformation almost complete .. the victim is faced with an exoskeletal wolf .. rapidly growing hair to cover the exposed muscle and blood vessels.
The second transformation is quicker, but also very innovative. The subject trembles and his eyes glow .. he opens his mouth, wider and wider .. the jaw cracks and a wolf's snout appears! The wolf emerges from inside the man .. the body discarded as a sheath of sorts.
Back to the plot. Company of Wolves is part fantasy, part fairy tale; some of it takes place in dreams, many scenes are narrated stories .. "Once upon a time .."
Throughout the movie we are shown a girl sleeping, and obviously dreaming .. then, many of the characters in the dreams tell stories.
A synopsis of the storyline is as follows:
A young girl is married, only to be abandoned by her husband on her wedding night. She re-marries, has a family, and is re-visited by her first husband, who is now a werewolf. The wolf is decapitated by her second husband before completing the transformation.

The story then moves on to another girl, young and shy, and her neighbor's effort to court her (unsuccessfully). She embarks on a trip to her grandmother's house, and meets a respectable young man in the forest. Her bets her a kiss that he can beat her to grandma's house. He wins .. kills grandma, and hides. When the girl arrives, it is all over. He transforms into a wolf, and she willingly becomes his victim.
