When the movie opens, we see a ship traveling in the calm waters of the Pacific.
At the aft side of the ship, a monstrous hand emerges from underneath a pile of canvas .. a horrible monster appears! The crew battle the creature to no avail, fuel is spilled onto the deck, and the ship explodes. The scene cuts to an island shore, where we see the dapper doctor/scientist, Bill Foster (John Ashley), crawling to shore .. thinking he is the sole surivior .. We also see that the monster is also on the beach a few hundred yards away.
Several months pass.
Returning to Blood Island on board a small cargo ship, the doctor/scientist meets Myra (Celeste Yarnall), a female reporter, out to get a story on the mysterious events there.
Upon landing, Bill finds Ramu (Alfonso Carvajal) and the natives are quite apprehensive and fearful of him. They believe the 'evil one' still stalks the island. Laida (Lisa Belmonte), a native girl, whose father has been abducted by the 'evil one', joins their party as they head for the Lopez mansion.
Myra is later kidnapped, and Bill embarks on a journey to locate her.
Razak (Bruno Punzalan) and his men arrive with Myra at Dr. Lorca's (Eddie Garcia) elaborate hideout in the Valley of the Red Mist. Lorca is hideously disfigured from his attack by the Blood Monster. In his laboratory is the decapitated body of the Monster, Don Ramon, kept alive by a mechanical brain and the head itself, also maintained by a mechanical device. The head is still alive and functioning but Lorca cannot get it to speak, although he knows the head is capabie of doing so.
Bill walks alone into Lorca's camp, while Laida, Ramu and their party watch him from hidden positions. Lorca greets Bill coldly and proceeds to show him his new experiments. He explains he wishes to rid Don Ramon's brain of evil impulses and restore it to a normal appearance. Bill accuses Lorca of still experimenting with human beings and also hints, to Myra's surprise, that he is not quite as opposed to Lorcas' experiments as before.
Later, Ramu and his men come to the rescue .. and a battle ensues ..
Best quote:
The day may come soon .. Lorca
- The Monster (aka Ramone)
Directed by Eddie Romero; Cast: John Ashley, Celeste Yarnall, Eddie Garcia, Liza Belmonte.
It is interesting that this movie is rated "GP" .. as there are two sexy scenes which would be considered rated-R by today's standards.
